    Hi Mikko! People usually say you need goals to get better in art and I had goals. I wanted to get better so I could go into art school and make art into my career. When it was time to apply to the schools I got anxiety about even trying and I had already changed my plans so I didn't go. Now I feel I lack motivation and inspiration even if I LOVE doing art. I don't know if it's lack of goals or something else but I don't know what to do about it. Sometimes I have better days with the inspiration (like right now when I started to try doing art in different style) but usually I just lack everything. I have also been studying specific things for some kind of "art competitions" but the way to perform in there is very strict and I find it quite boring and inspiration killing sometimes. I just feel I can't do anything else either because I lack the inspiration but while watching this LIVE I realised that all I want is just to express myself like you finely described. I don't know what do, I feel stuck. Do you have any kind of tips? I might want to buy some kind of "artprogram" some day but right now I don't have the money. Your membership sounds fun though!

    • @angrymikko
      @angrymikko День назад

      You seem to blame your lack of initiative in making art on the lack of inspiration. Inspiration is not something that the world owes you. As an artist, inspiration is a beautiful gift that’s (and I can not stress this enough) OCCASSIONALLY bestowed upon you. Should it not show up, an artist shows up for work anyway. You can only access creativity by showing up for your part of the work. It sounds like you want to take that next step, but rather than advising you to sign up or buy anything, I highly recommend just starting a habit of showing up for your art. Try starting small. Just sketching or doodling for 15 minutes each day is enough. Slowly build that up to one hour with the tools you enjoy the most. Whether or not you get into an art school, I think it's worth figuring out a way to enjoy making art every day. Even if the painting fails, can you find a way to make art that you’d enjoy anyway? Only then, after all those things, is it worth considering what kind of system could be beneficial for pushing you further in your creative journey. Having a healthy relationship with your art and the act of creating it will help you pursue whatever goal you want to pursue in the future.

    Great advice! Completely off topic, but I'm curious about your experience with the Nicker Poster Colour paints. I attempted to swatch mine this past weekend and half poured out of the tube as if just colored water. Despite that I tried to paint with them anyway, but they dried with an incredibly wet sheen and were sticky to the touch, as well as being streaky (even w/ a dry brush). I ended up setting them aside and going back to my Holbeins.

    • @angrymikko
      @angrymikko 4 дня назад

      They’re not for everyone. The water does get separated after some time in the tube but that’s why I don’t like using my glass jar versions anymore. They also have a maximum amount of layers before the sticky effect kicks in. Hard papers have less absorbing surface which can make that limit come much earlier. Honestly if you like using any other gouache then go for it. Nicker ones are extremely expensive anyway.

    I destroy my sketchbooks after they are finished. I use them to work out ideas and knowing that they are temporary lets me paint freely and without worry of messing up. I am supposed to mess up in the sketchbook and not on the canvas. I go through 1 a month or so.

    • @angrymikko

It's OK, I'm exercising, let's ruin it, there will be so many more! + yes, I should buy something a lil more good quality wise ahah About that, what are the materials are you using here? (brush, sketchbook?the gouache I see it's nicker, but it's a lil too expensive for my Lil pockets ahah do you recommend something slightly cheaper? Thank you in advance! ✨)

    • @angrymikko
      @angrymikko 5 дней назад

      Nicker poster colours are expensive but they're not made out of magic. Good quality gouache set will get you same results. Nicker dries just a bit faster and it can be a lot harder to re-activate after it's dry so that adds up even more to its cost. Also good attitude about the torn page. You bought the book to use it! It's not sacred nor irreplaceable. 🐻

This is the first video I watch and im already hooked 😂

    • @angrymikko
      @angrymikko 19 дней назад

      I highly recommend doing these in the order of “Sky” THEN “Building” sky subject is used to teach all the fundamentals of digital painting from scratch. “Building” uses and expands on the techniques learned in the first course and they’re applied to more complex building project. To keep the information as easy as possible to implement the same lessons are not repeated in these two courses and the content was planned to teach digital painting from zero. Despite sky being the project topic in the first project it really is just a vehicle to teach composition and techniques for all kinds of art. This is clearly stated in several parts of the first project. The checklist method taught in “Sky” is referred to every time a composition problems are highlighted and fixed in “Building”. Hope that answers your question.

I'm not sure if this is how the course is or i'm the one who's missing something. Are the files you're working on during the tutorials available? As a beginner to this I'm not following through if it makes sesne. Can you give me some guidance please?

    • @angrymikko
      @angrymikko 17 дней назад

      @Nihhuz Hey there. The brush is the first one in the Sky Master Brush set. You can find that download in the bottom of the course materials. I recommend using that for the block-in phase and if you’re having trouble between 2 & 3 I’ve included the entire process between them in “extra materials” where you can see the block in come together. Don’t worry about making mistakes in that part as the composition errors covered are meant to look for them after your block in is done. It’s important to not take that phase too seriously. Work at 100% opacity with as big of a brush you feel comfortable with. I didn’t edit out anything in the block-in bonus materials part because I wanted to show that I did 2 whole block-ins before I settled on the 3rd one. For colours you can use any of the palettes that come with the course but they can all be changed when you start “How to choose colours”. I hope this helps and if you have any questions let me know 🐻

    Have to admit a 10:27 video consisting of 4 commercial interruptions is overkill for a video of this type and length. As useful as this video a may of been I zoned out of anything you were saying and spent my time with the clicker concentrating on when I have to press the skip button. It’s not your fault and you’ve too many subscribers now to pay attention to any comments but I will say I didn’t enjoy this video. Not your fault - just ruined by RUclips.

      This year this video has generated 7€ of profit, which after takes is 3rd of one day’s lunch for me. The ads are not placed by me they are automatically placed by RUclips for videos that have monetization turned on. I wish I could but currently it is not possible to make videos without the income from those ads. I understand how that might be really frustrating. Personally I pay for yt premium be a I don't have time to watch any ads ever and I use their music service + I often listen to videos or music with my phone locked. I understand your frustration with the amount of ads I just wanted to point out what the situation is like from the creator side of things. Just to make a single video like this is only possible because of thousands of euros I’ve invested in the hardware and software to reach this level. Many of those costs are subscriptions too. I wish yt was a bit more chill with the ads for non premium users but sadly I have absolutely no say in that process at all.
